Summit at UNESCO Headquarters
Peace Education in Civil Society
In a global context marked by tensions, rising conflict,
social polarisation, disinformation, and new forms of violence
– including in the digital space –
peace education is no longer an aspirational ideal,
but a collective responsibility and an ethical urgency
that elevates education
into a strategic infrastructure of the 21st century.
Thematic Pillars
The summit’s thematic pillars translate the UNESCO Recommendation (2023) into operational priorities for peace education and social action.
Education for global citizenship and civic values
Competencies and pedagogies for peace
Critical thinking and digital resilience
International Day of Peace Education
An “International Day of Peace Education”
would help to highlight, in a visible and sustained way,
the role of education
in building peaceful, just, and inclusive societies.
